Sunday the 17thMay 2015 saw lovers of Sinhala music congregate in large numbers at the Bowman Hall at Blacktown.
This was to witness one of the premier musical events of the Sydney Calendar, the musical extravaganza, the Live Concert by the Maestro with a powerful deep voice - Amarasiri Peiris. The Maestro started the proceedings with the popular song Budu Sihila Galala. Then he continued to mesmerise the audience with his numerous popular hits Hanthaneta Payana Sanda, Apple Malak, Iki Gasa Handana and many more. Amarasiri Peiris was amply assisted by our own Samanali, Ayomi and Prasadika by beautifully singing a few duets. Providing music to a classical show like this is a massive task. The music Director Agra Premaratne and the orchestra took to this task very well. There were two very attractive dances which added a new dimension to the evening which were superbly performed by Thilini Wanigatunga and VidhuNarthana Dancing School led by Vidusha Surige. Compering by Nishantha and Ayomi was short sweet and entertaining.
Sarasa Wasanthaya, musical evening was organised by the Sri Jayawardenepura Alumni Association of NSW/ACT with the noble purpose of raising funds to financially assist the present deserving students of the University of Sri Jayawardenepura.
